The Academy will be at the heart of the Harpurhey and North Manchester community and will be a true community facility. The Manchester Communication Academy will be working closely with organisations, groups and members of the local community to ensure everyone benefits from the resources, facilities and opportunities that the new Academy will provide.
People’s Voice Media is a not for profit community development organisation based in Manchester. Through its ground breaking Community Reporters’ Programme it uses social media to give people a voice, and to get communities talking to each other.
The City Learning Centre at Abraham Moss has supported the development of the Community Reporters’ Programme and is working closely with the Academy on the introduction of innovative technology within the school, to bring new and exciting approaches to learning.
The Manchester Communication Academy is currently working with the Youth Activity Group to develop the Academy’s sport and leisure facilities for use by the group in providing activities for young people across North Manchester.
Manchester Communication Academy is working with Northwards Housing to support its community involvement programme, in particular its scheme for Junior Wardens. The shared values and objectives for both will ensure the continued success of the relationship.
The Academy will have six brand new sports pitches including a flood-lit all weather surface. Local football club, Moston Brook, will share the sports facilities at the Academy using them to practice, train and play competitive matches.
Working with the Manchester Children’s University™ the Academy has helped to develop out-of-school-hours learning opportunities for young people in North Manchester.
