People’s Voice Media is a not for profit community development organisation based in Manchester. Through its ground breaking Community Reporters’ Programme it uses social media to give people a voice, and to get communities talking to each other.
People’s Voice Media worked with the Manchester Communication Academy to train school children from across North Manchester to become community reporters, teaching them a wide range of interviewing, reporting, filming and editing skills, which they then used to talk to local people about the new Academy, and find out what they thought of it.
Work through the Community Reporters’ Programme will help to ensure that the Academy is developed as an educational and community facility that meets the community’s needs and is an integral part of their lives.
People’s Voice Media are planning to run a social media centre within the Academy building, once it opens, where local people will have access to training and will be able to become community reporters!
