The award was given to the Manchester Communication Academy, located in Harpurhey. The academy is a new high school and community facility with three principal partners – BT, Manchester College and the City Council. Susan Webster, Governor of the MCA, attended the ceremony and received the award on behalf of the academy. The award was presented by popular British journalist and newsreader Moira Stuart OBE.

“I am thrilled to receive the award on behalf of the Manchester Communication Academy which recognises the commitment made in working in partnership with the local community and others to engage students in their learning.”
Kumon Educational UK was delighted to sponsor the award and to celebrate the achievements of outstanding schools who share their vision for developing independent children who can contribute to society. Kumon Educational UK offer maths and English study programmes for children of all ages and abilities. There are a number of Kumon study centres within the Manchester region, with the Prestwich Study Centre being the nearest centre to the academy.
