North Manchester primary schools go to the BT Paralympic World Cup

School children at Briscoe Lane Primary School in North Manchester were given the opportunity to watch the BT Paralympic World Cup, held in Manchester from the 20th to the 25th May.

BT, a lead partner in the brand new Manchester Communication Academy and the sponsor of the BT Paralympic World Cup 2009, gave the school tickets, for children to watch track cycling events at the games.

Sue Webster, Programme Director from BT, said: ‘BT are involved in the Academy to help give children unique opportunities and support new ways for them to learn and going to the Paralympic World Cup is a really great chance for local primary school children to be part of a major sporting event taking place in their city.”

The Manchester Communication Academy, which opens in Harpurhey, North Manchester in September 2010 will provide a totally new way of educating young people from the age of 11, helping them gain the skills they need to build their careers in the city’s businesses.

Building work has begun on the site of the brand new Manchester Communication Academy, which will be situated at the junction of Rochdale Road and Queens Road in Harpurhey, North Manchester.
