ENGLISH

WHAT WILL STUDENTS DO?

Language Paper-based homework on the creative writing question 5s on both papers. Teachers will provide a variety of resources and use the scores from student's bookwork to give individual targets on that question.

HOW OFTEN?

Weekly

WHAT WILL STUDENTS PRODUCE?

Minimum one page/four paragraphs (in order to evidence target/ensure best possible score out of 40 on that question).

WANT TO GO FURTHER?

  1. Access GCSEpod and revise the literature pods.

  2. Find a random picture and write a story or description.

  3. Find a news article. Read it and then write an opinion piece about the issue.

MATHS

WHAT WILL STUDENTS DO?

At KS4 pupils are given paper homework everyday which focuses on reviewing key skills. They must bring their completed homework sheet to their next lesson.

Daily

WHAT WILL STUDENTS PRODUCE?

10-15 minutes

WANT TO GO FURTHER?

Homework sheets will be either a worksheet with questions or past exam questions on to complete. Homework revision tasks may also be set which require students to revise ready for a re-quiz in the following lesson.

LANGUAGE

1 or 2 target language (French, Spanish) tasks - comprehension or translation based on topic from previous lesson & vocabulary learning list to be used/ low stakes tested next lesson. May also be set revision guide listening tasks and/or Memrise Vocabulary learning

Students will complete the HW sheet given to them and will self assess it in lesson. Teacher will discuss common misconceptions. The language covered on this HW will be used in the next lesson and developed further.

WANT TO GO FURTHER?

Watch a French/Spanish/Mandarin film or TV program and write a review for your classmates. (we have many in school you can borrow)

Research a recipe from France/Spain/China and cook it for your family. Write a review for take a picture to show your class.

Read a blog, poem, short story or news article in French/Spanish/Mandarin and share it with your class.

Access Languages online and revise all grammar points.

At KS4, there is greater focus on exam practice and preparation for GCSE examinations. Students in year 10 and 11 are given exam practice questions in addition to a range of resources such as model answers that support students in completing examination practice on an independent basis at home. Teachers also direct students towards knowledge organisers which they are required to learn in order to participate in low stakes quizzes the following lesson

Weekly

Students are provided with worksheets and lined paper to complete responses to exam questions, which students are encouraged to stick into exercise books the following lesson. Students also welcome to submit responses to exam questions electronically (via email or Google Classroom).

  1.  Engage with a task or question on your extension revision card. There are tasks available for all units on the GCSE!

  2. Access Eduquas History resources on GCSE Pod.

  3. Use your revision guide to carry out further reading on the topic.

  4. Access information, watch videos and complete quizzes on GCSE Bitesize 

GEOGRAPHY

Exam questions to allow them to independently practice their skills. Higher attaining classes are set knowledge organisers to complete with a section being completed each week based on the content they have been taught that week. Revision homework is given every three weeks for short test that will test their knowledge and understanding of previously studied topics to aid retention over time.

Reading tasks will be given to students on a weekly basis that link directly to the content of their external exam. This will include questions in response to the brief, examples of written responses, writing frames and structures. Students will also be set homework on google classroom. This involves evaluative tasks in response to practical sessions and workshops.
