HOMEWORK AT MCA
At MCA we believe that homework is a powerful tool to enhance and develop the learning that takes place in lessons. It allows students to develop their independent learning skills, it support students in their recall and retrieval of key learning, assisting in the transfer of knowledge to the long term memory as well as creating opportunities for deeper thinking and explorations of a subject.
In addition to homework tasks that are set by subject teachers, we encourage students to use the resources suggested below to extend their learning. Equally, we encourage students to use recall strategies such as mind maps to secure and consolidate learning that has taken place during the school day.
At key stage 3, students are encouraged and expected to spend between 2 to 3 hours a week on homework and independent study.
