In Design and Technology, we aim to develop our students to enable them to realise their full potential, academically, socially and creatively using 21st century solutions. We want to enable them to venture into the world of work to create things that people need and that work well. Pupils are introduced to a wide variety of experiences including Design and make activities, investigations, and disassembly and focused practical tasks across a range of specialisms such as Resistant Materials, Product Design and Graphics.  All learners at KS3 experience Design Technology as part of their curriculum in order to prepare your child for life in the real world.

The work that you see here is a small snippet of our Year 10 and Year 11 cohorts. 191 students at MCA achieved GCSE qualifications across Fine Art, 3D Design, Textile Design, Photograph and Graphic Communication this summer, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts. Despite all of the obstacles that 2020 presented to our students, they rose to the challenge, and have created some truly outstanding outcomes. Click here for the website

Within KS3 Technology, students are immersed in a wealth of new knowledge and technological skills. As an Academy, we are rich in resource, machinery and technology which we love to use from our students' starting lessons in Technology. We work within a cycle of lessons alongside Creative Arts, allowing for lots of cross-curricular skills and design projects to show how creative and imaginative Technology can be.

In Year 9 students begin their Technology qualifications with Resistant Materials and Engineering as popular choices for many students. We love to empower the creative and develop our students' evaluative skills in becoming the future designers in our country
